Privacy Policy

Brush Expert is a toothbrushing timer for families. It is designed to work without collecting any personal information about you or your family. The only thing it sends is anonymous usage statistics, described below, and you can switch them off.
What the app stores
- The names you enter for the people who brush, their colours, and their brushing history (when each brushing finished, how long it lasted, and the stars, streaks and badges it earned).
- Your settings, such as reminders, sounds and the brushing routine options.
This information is stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for Brush Expert, it is also stored in your own iCloud account so your family’s devices stay in sync. Apple handles that storage under its own privacy policy; we cannot see or access it.
What we collect
No personal data. Brush Expert has no accounts, no servers of its own, no advertising and no tracking. We never see the names you enter or your brushing history.
Anonymous usage statistics
To learn how many families use the app and whether it helps them brush regularly, Brush Expert sends anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, an analytics service built for privacy (TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy). The statistics contain:
- For each finished brushing: whether it was a morning, evening or midday brush, whether it earned a star, how long it lasted, how many people brushed together, the brushing guide used, whether a song played, and the length of the streaks in broad groups (for example “7–13 days”).
- Once a day: how many people are set up, whether reminders are on, and how many of the last 30 days had a brush and had both a morning and an evening brush, rounded to the nearest 10 %.
- When a parent records a past brushing: how many people it was for.
- Technical details that TelemetryDeck adds, such as the app version, iOS version and device model.
They never contain names, exact times, brushing history or anything you type. To count users without knowing who they are, TelemetryDeck receives a one-way, salted hash of the device instead of any identifier. The statistics are not linked to you and are not used for tracking or advertising.
Switching them off: the statistics are on when you first open the app. Turn off Share anonymous statistics in Settings → Parents and privacy and nothing is sent after that.
Music
If you choose a brushing song, Brush Expert asks for access to your music library so you can pick it. The app only remembers which song was chosen (its title, artist and identifiers) and plays it on your device; nothing about your library is sent anywhere.
Face ID and the passcode
The locks in Settings → Parents and privacy keep some things for parents: recording a past brushing (on by default) and opening Settings (off by default). With a lock on, the app asks iOS to confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode. iOS does the check; the app only learns whether it succeeded and never sees any biometric data.
Backups
If you export a backup or the brushing history (CSV), the file is created on your device and goes only where you send it. Importing a backup reads the file you choose and nothing else.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Brush Expert schedules them on your device only (the end of a brushing and optional daily reminders). No information leaves the device to do this.
Who sets it up
Brush Expert is set up and managed by an adult in the household. It collects no personal information from anyone who uses it: the anonymous statistics above describe how the app is used, not who uses it.
Deleting your data
Remove a person in Settings → People & reminders to delete their name and history on all your synced devices. Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device; data in iCloud can be removed in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
