Brush Expert is a toothbrushing timer for families: a 3D mouth shows where to brush, and stars, streaks and badges reward every morning and evening brush.
Questions
How long is a brushing? The same for everyone: 2 minutes 30 seconds unless you change it (from 2 to 3 minutes, in Settings → Brushing routine). A soft chirp says when to move on. Before that there can be a short flossing question and a toothpaste step; both can be turned off in Settings.
When is a star earned? One star for a brushing finished in the morning (before 12:00) and one in the evening (from 16:00), per person, per day. A brushing between 12:00 and 16:00 earns a small bonus gift instead, once a day. Stopping early earns nothing.
How do I add, rename or remove someone? Open Settings → People & reminders. Up to four people. Removing a person also deletes their stars and history. Tap Reorder there and drag the handles to change the order; every device follows it.
Can I stop others from changing the settings? Yes. Turn on Lock Settings with Face ID in Settings → Parents and privacy. Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode is then asked before Settings opens.
Can two people brush at the same time? Yes. Start one person, then tap + on the brushing screen to add the next. Each gets their own timer; sounds switch off and the screen blinks at each zone instead. On an iPad the timers sit side by side or in the four corners, whichever leaves each mouth biggest for how the iPad is held.
How do I sync between my phone and iPad? Sign in with the same Apple Account and keep iCloud turned on for Brush Expert. People and stars appear on every device.
The reminders don’t show up. Turn on Daily reminders in Settings → People & reminders, and allow notifications for Brush Expert in the iPhone Settings app.
Can I see the full history? Settings → People & reminders → Export every brushing (CSV) shares a spreadsheet of every brushing with its time and result.
Can each person have their own song? Yes. In Settings → People & reminders, tap ♪ next to a name and pick a song from your music library (songs added from Apple Music, or songs on the device). Use Start at in the same menu to skip a long intro. The song plays when that person’s brushing starts, repeats if it is shorter than the brushing, pauses with the timer and stops when brushing ends. When several people brush together, the first person’s song plays until everyone is done.
How do I back up or move my data? Settings → People & reminders → Export a backup (JSON) saves everyone and every brushing to a file (Files, AirDrop, Mail…). Import a backup (JSON) adds what the file has and this device does not; it never deletes anything, so importing the same file twice is harmless. With iCloud turned on, your devices already stay in sync without this.
